ERN Sports Medicine Clinics are designed to help athletes achieve maximum performance and avoid sports related injuries or conditions. Our certified athletic trainers (ATC) customize programs, care plans and conditioning regimens designed to strengthen and prepare the athlete's body for their particular sport or recreation. We can also provide on-site programs for teams or groups. The following is a list of sports medicine clinics we offer:
Advanced Functional Rehabilitation Injured athletes often require skills and training beyond their formal physical therapy in order to safely return to sports. This program is designed to help athletes "bridge the gap" between formal rehabilitation and the return to sports. ATCs provide one-on-one instruction in the areas of advanced muscle conditioning, agility, proprioception and sport-specific drills.
ACL Functional Testing Program The Anterior Cruciate Ligiament (ACL) Functional Testing Program provides information to assist physicians in determining a safe return-to-sports for patients following an anterior cruciate ligament injury or reconstruction. The program uses five objective tests with published normative values to accompany evaluations of the patient's running/cutting ability and endurance capabilities.
ACL Injury Prevention The goal of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury Prevention Program is to provide the athletic population, physicians, athletic trainers, strength coaches and therapists access to a clinically demonstrated method to decrease the incidence of ACL injuries, particularly in the female athlete. The program uses educational and demonstration components to achieve its goals.
Clinical Taping Athletes who suffer an injury and subsequently return to the playing field can often benefit from the application of preventive and/or protective taping. The clinical athletic taping program provides competitive and recreational athletes access to taping services prior to athletic competitions, practices or work activities. The program was developed specifically for individuals, teams and recreational programs without regular access to the services of a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).
Golf Fitness The golf swing is a dynamic integrated motion that requires specific physical characteristics to perform correctly and consistently. ERN's Golf Fitness Programs address the physical limitations that prevent golfers from performing a technically correct swing. If individuals are unable to get into golf-specific positions, golf lessons alone will not improve their game. ERN's Golf Fitness Programs include a six-series class, one-on-one instruction and a swing video analysis. The programs address improper swings, which can lead to the following: · improper address posture · poor swing mechanics · pain and/or injury to the back, shoulder, arm, elbow & wrist · poor balance · decreased accuracy · decreased distance · poor scores
Performance Enhancement Program The Performance Enhancement Program provides athletes and sports enthusiasts with strength and conditioning in a hands-on format. The program uses a computer generated sport-specific strength and conditioning program designed for an individual or an entire team of athletes. Goals such as weight loss/gain, speed, quickness, strength, power, explosiveness, and flexibility, are evaluated through consultation and screening. With the help of an innovative software package, participants work with an ERN athletic trainer to develop improvement goals and create an individualized strength and/or conditioning program that will be implemented at the athlete's or team's workout facility. Programs are typically six weeks in duration. Each program is monitored weekly using the computer software program, and results/progress are stored on spreadsheets and computer disks.
Pitching Biomechanics The purpose of the pitching biomechanics program is to provide athletes, coaches, physicians, athletic trainers and therapists with a means to evaluate the overhead throwing motion, correlating technical errors with repetitive micro-trauma. The program uses slow-motion video analysis via portable recording, combined with playback and analysis of the motion. The goal is to provide instruction and consultation to assist pitchers of all ages in preventing shoulder injury or re-injury.
Programs from ERN's Strength and Conditioning Specialists ERN's certified strength and conditioning specialists (CSCS) offer programs for weight loss and sports specific training.
The Sport Specific Training Program is designed specifically for athletes to increase speed, strength, and endurance, and is especially beneficial to athletes returning to sport after an injury. A certified strength coach works with individuals one-on-one to help develop and reach specific goals.
