Physical therapists examine, diagnose and treat the body’s muscles, bones and joints and work with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular problems that affect movement and function as a result of injury or illness. They also work to promote fitness and injury prevention. Physical therapists work with people of all ages in a variety of settings such as hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, schools, homes and work sites using exercise, modalities and equipment to assist people in achieving their goals.
