HAND THERAPY

ERN has one of the largest hand therapy programs in Connecticut.  ERN's hand therapists work with the patient and hand surgeon to provide therapy that may start within days of surgery or injury through the patient's return to work and/or functional lifestyle.

Some of the more common diagnoses seen include arthritis, fracture, nerve injury or compression, soft tissue injury, tendon injury, crush injury or amputation.

ERN has fifteen therapists specializing in hand therapy, eight of whom are certified hand therapists (CHT).
A physical therapist or occupational therapist who has completed a minimum of five years of clinical practice (including a minimum of 2,000 hours in direct practice in hand therapy) and has successfully completed a comprehensive clinical and theoretical test administered by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission, is designated CHT, certified hand therapist.

Hand therapy is offered in East Hartford, Enfield, Glastonbury, Granby, Hartford, Meriden, West Hartford (Bishops Corner), Wethersfield, and Windsor.
