Back Pain Treatment - The McKenzie Method

The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® for back pain is an active patient treatment philosophy that emphasizes prevention and intervention, and encourages patients to be in control of their own treatment.

The McKenzie Method is an approach that allows the therapist to quickly evaluate the patient's problem and determine if the patient will benefit. Since most spinal pain is believed to be mechanical in nature, most patients will show patterns of response to pain and function, and be classified accordingly. There are three components to McKenzie: evaluation, treatment, and prevention.
